Stainless Steel parts for export to Saudi Arabia

In December 2015 we received an urgent enquiry from a customer in Saudi Arabia.

The enquiry was for 82 pieces of a non standard grade of stainless steel bars.

The grade requested was not the most common stainless grade, and our customer left us to source the material, albeit on an urgent basis.

Within 24 hours we had sourced the required size, specification and quantity.

We formulated our price and included sea freight to the nominated seaport in Saudi Arabia.

A further 24 hours was then spent negotiating our price with the customer. We finally agreed on a price per piece in U.S. dollars shipped to the Saudi seaport.

We awaited the order anxiously.  Finally the order arrived vai email, and on it was stated the words: PLEASE SHIP EX U.K. BY 21/12/2015 VERY LATEST…….

We received the order on the 14th.

By the 17th the work was allocated to 2 saws which ran for 24 hours each per day to meet the required shipping order. The pieces were then suitably packed for export shipping, and despatched by the 17th.

On the 18th our freight forwarder collected the pallets from our works. Each pallet showed the details of its contents, including the requested shipping marks.

Just in time the cargo arrived at the docks to be documented, checked by customs, and put on board the Saudi bound vessel for onward shipment.

In January the vessel docked in the Saudi port where the cargo was collected by our customer, taken back to their works, and used for machining within the next few days.

This was a very challenging request and order, but with persistence and endeavour, we managed to satisfy our customer’s very urgent needs, and further cement the already excellent relationship we had had with them.
